When one thinks of the word gourmet, the first thing to come to mind is an elaborate and refined preparation of food or drinks, by a person with extensive knowledge and experience in the culinary arts. The presentation of the food usually depends on them being aesthetically balanced, pleasing to look at, and yet able to bring out the contrast among the various different often rich courses. The term and the practices associated with it are most of the times, used with a positive note, and that too to describe people who have a refined taste either in food or elsewhere. Chefs are now trying to give a very refines and classy touch to these fast food dishes too, with the introduction of lamb burgers prepared in exotic manners and instead of being quick, focusing on the quality and look of the dish.

There is reason that the seafood of the coastal areas is so popular and that is not just due to the fact that they are closer to the sea in proximity. But, it is also, due to the fact that they have been using seafood in their daily meals, for far longer than the landlocked areas have and thus know several different ways to prepare them in way that is very difficult for other places to do the same. For instance, a restaurant in Mumbai will probably give better quality seafood than a restaurant in Delhi or elsewhere. Because the chef there has been preparing seafood for longer, has probably had it many times, in their daily life, learned it from the family members. Also, the people of coastal area, have a very keen eye for what type of fish or seafood item to select, how to cut, also, which part of the seafood to use and more. The regular consumption of seafood has also made the establishments there, more creative with their preparations and yet at the same time, the time to practice on their traditional recipes and perfect them over the years. There are many a restaurant in Bangalore that offer excellent seafood items, that one will probably rarely ever find any where else.
One reason could also be the air and water there, that gives the seafood a different taste as compared to other places or specifically landlocked places. The air and water of each area in a country is different and affected by the weather conditions, soils and such. And this in turn also affects the taste of food, so the air and water could very well affect how seafood taste in coastal areas as compared to landlocked places. |
