1. Internet search
In an age when people cannot step out of their houses without 3G/4G network on their smartphones, looking up great places on the Internet is naturally the first thing I do too. With the help of ratings and reviews, my friends and I often decide which restaurant to dine at in a new city.
2. Asking the locals
Regardless of how easily Internet can be accessed or the abundance of information available on different websites, the way the locals can guide you, nothing or no one else can. And hence, we make it a point to ask the locals of the area for their suggestions at least once on our trip. And never, ever have we been disappointed. On our recent trip to Mumbai, the locals guided us to a great restaurant in Mumbai and I doubt I can ever forget the taste of the delicious dishes we tried.
3. Exploration
And we also make it a point to let the instincts take over once in a while and visit a restaurant while exploring the city on our own. I agree that our choices do not always turn out great, but the joy of doing something by detaching oneself from technology for once seems liberating. On the same trip, we also tried smoked food in Mumbai at a restaurant we discovered ourselves, and I must say it was pretty great.
And of course there are trusted chains like Smoke House Deli to fall back on and will never let you down. These were my ways of trying out new food joints; what’s your way?
