Though not really the best restaurants in Mumbai, but even the smaller joints serve a great variety of morning meals from a complete English breakfast option to greasy sausages and eggs with butter on toast accompanied with the best coffee I have ever had. One of the breakfast joints I had a chance to enjoy a good breakfast meal had this rustic decor that makes anyone want a clean and healthy lifestyle. The healthy morning meal options are a tasty step in the ideal healthy eating direction. Visit day or night, depending on your need, for a dish of oats, multi-vitamin cocktail juices made from apple, orange, and carrot juice with a dash of lemon and ginger, or enjoy piping hot tea. The cafe offers whole grain toasts served with chunky peanut butter or jam, as per choice.
Another good place for North India morning meal options, if you miss the local burger in Delhi, is food joints at popular Mumbai suburbs. These outlets have been acquiring a lot of credit for their street fare comprising of paranthas stuffed with aloo (potato), gobi (cauliflower), garlic-cheese and paneer (cottage cheese) served hot and fresh off the frying pan with a dash of ghee (clarified butter), to a packed crowd. For a much more peaceful experience, I recommend walking into these street outlets between 8am to 9am. Order for your piece and enjoy a delightful breakfast closer to the sea that has an uncommon calm despite the noise and crowd.
For a sinfully start to your day, try the local pakwaan made from three different daals (lentils). This dish offers one of the best mixes of seasoning I have had and do ask for their famous green chutney. The cooked lentils are covered with fried onions, steamed potatoes and beetroot slivers. I remember scooping it up with deep-fried crispy snacks.
